Who we are
The urticaria network e.V. (UNEV, founded in 2004) is an association of people who share the goal of promoting research on the clinical picture for urticaria (hives), and for improving care for patients with urticaria. Toward this end, we promote projects, campaigns, and research proposals to
- research into the causes and treatment of urticaria, or
- inform urticaria patients about their illness.
We also help doctors treat those affected by urticaria. For example, we report on the most current research results, organise advanced education events and promote exchange between members–both within the group and with international urticaria experts.
UNEV is not a self-help group as such, although we support urticaria self-help groups such as the Patientenkreis Urtikaria (Urticaria Patient Group) in Germany's Rhein-Main region. All UNEV participants act on a voluntary basis.
Our work is supported by the Urticaria Surgery at the University Skin Clinic of Mainz (USS Mainz) and Berlin (USS Berlin) and the European Centre of Allergy Research Foundation (ECARF). All UNEV activities, including our website at www.urtikaria.net
We gladly accept all forms of assistance, from critique and proposed improvements to volunteer work (we are currently in dire need of press and organisational volunteers for our office in Mainz and in the areas of organisation, finances, fundraising and public relations for our Berlin office.) You can also support our work through monetary contributions or donations in kind (both tax deductible).
UNEV needs your support. We'd also be glad to talk to you personally about how you can help.
